David & Maggie Hewitt
David & Maggie have led Wellsprings Community in Edinburgh since 2007. David is an architect and Maggie taught as a primary school teacher. They also head up the Scottish base for Movement in Worship. They delight in organic, creative, Spirit-led worship and have sought to lead a fresh expression of church that offers an encounter with the Presence of God in the context of a participatory community. David networks widely across the city and nation as well as internationally, and has also given input to churches in East Africa over the past 30 years. He is the author of two books: ‘Reconstructing Ecclesia’ and ‘Ultimate Rest’.
David Stewart
David is an artist and musician; he has a degree in ceramics and has worked professionally as a touring puppeteer since 2001. His experience as a worship leader spans 35 years and a wide variety of settings. He has been involved in church leadership for over 25 years, mostly pioneering and helping to establish new churches and ministries. He has been part of Movement in Worship since 2006, and founded Dawnbird in 2011. David’s heart is to make space for others and to help people to be free, particularly in the area of worship and the creative arts. An avid hillwalker, he is most at home going ‘off the map’.
Rachel Hewitt
Rachel combines a mix of creativity and compassion, expressed through joy! She has had a key role in conceiving the vision for a house of prayer for Edinburgh and the initial idea that pioneered the Next Wave, which ultimately led to Glory in the Cowshed. She studied Art & Dance at Bath Spa University, and later completed an MA in Museum Education at Glasgow. She has travelled widely and lived abroad for several years. Most recently she has trained in wellness therapies and has set up Joy’s Organic Delight, offering a range of treatments in different locations. Rachel is also running ‘Wild Wellness’, a new wellness retreat for women.
Cowshed Events Team
Glory in the Cowshed is made possible by a broad, dedicated team of volunteers – from musicians, artists and dancers to administrators and practical and logistical people. A few of the people who co-ordinate these areas are mentioned here but there are many more!
David & Maggie Hewitt and David Stewart are assisted by Rachel Hewitt and Chris Hewitt in giving general leadership and oversight at the Cowshed.
Music and Tech are co-ordinated by David Stewart, Maggie oversees Dance and Movement together with an experienced team, and David Hewitt co-ordinates speakers. Other key people include John & Rachel Clancy (Children & Youth) and Roy Graham (Admin).
